Milim Community is offering a bursary to a photographer based in Ghana

This is a call for applications for a bursary to help develop a personal photographic project between November 2023 – February 2024.

The main body of the application should be a description of a potential photographic project. It should be in a coherent series and although any subject matter will be acceptable, applicants should bear in mind the style of imagery that Millennium Images holds in its collection which is fine art based.

We will grant £1000 GBP to a Ghanaian photographer to help develop a project of the photographer’s choosing, shot in Ghana. It is envisaged that the finished work will be shown in a London Gallery in 2024.

Through a series of  Zoom workshops Jason Shenai and Ana Blumenkron of Millennium Images, will help to develop the project with the photographer, giving critical feedback and advice.

There is no maximum or minimum number of images that would be acceptable for the final project, but as a guideline we would consider 20 images to be a reasonable number.

The application should include:

– photographers bio and statement

– project proposal (approximately 200 words)

– visual references (can be images that the photographer has already shot,  or images by other photographers)

– 10 page portfolio (can be 10 slides or 10 loose images)

– contact details (email, phone number, social media)

The proposal could be a brand new idea, yet to be commenced, or a project that is already underway and in need of development.

Applications may come  from anyone aged 18 or over.

Please send your PDF application by email to contact@milim.com
